Death of Mrs. Will Lytle

Mrs. Will Lytle died at her home one half mile west of Winterset, Friday afternoon, March 4th after a ten day illness with pneumonia. Mrs. Lytle had been critically ill, but it was thought that she was progressing nicely; she had a relapse and died about 3 o'clock in the afternoon.

Mrs. Lytle had always lived in Madison County. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Johnston and was born July 20, 1887, at St. Charles. She spent her girlhood there, and was married to Mr. Lytle, August 6, 1905. Since that time they have made their home near Winterset.

For a number of years they made their home at the Winterset Golf and Country club, and two years ago, moved to the McElree acreage at the west city limits.

The Lytle's were the parents of four children, whom with the father survive her: Ralph, Lyle, Martha Jean and Roseanne. She also leaves three sisters, Mrs. Laura Kiniard, Mrs. Genevieve Clessland of Patterson, Mrs. Mary Rogers of Winterset, and three brothers, Ned Johnston of Patterson, Denver Johnston of Patterson and Everett Johnston of Chicago, Illinois.

The Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the Baptist church conducted her funeral services at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, March 6th, at 2:30 o'clock and burial was at the Winterset cemetery.

Mortuary - Martha Ellen Lytle

Martha Ellen Lytle, daughter of William and Etta May Johnston, was born July 20, 1887 at St. Charles, Iowa, and passed away at her home after a brief illness on March 4, 1932.

She was united in marriage to W. A. Lytle August 6, 1905, to which union was born four children, Ralph, Lyla, Martha Jean, and Roseanne, all of whom survive.

In addition to these are three sisters, Mrs. Laura Kiniard of Patterson, Mrs. Genevieve Clessland of Patterson, Mrs. May Rogers of Winterset and three brothers, Ned Johnston of Patterson, Denver Johnston of Patterson and Everett Johnston of Chicago, Illinois.

Up to the time of her marriage, Mrs. Lytle spent her life in and around St. Charles, but since that event she had been a resident of Winterset.

Mrs. Lytle was a real Christian, a loving wife and mother, a friend, a homemaker and one who loved the simple and real things of life.
Services were held a 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the Baptist church with Rev. John T. Hall officiating.

Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

A number of out of town people were here Sunday to attend the funeral services of Mrs. Will Lytle which were held at the Baptist church Sunday afternoon.

The group included Miss Lois Grimm, Miss Mae Martin, Mrs. Myrna Nystrand, Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Hibbs, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Skelly, Mr. and Mrs. Ferd Schell, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Peacock, Kenneth Charon, Saul Souders and Miss Mabel Montieth, all of Des Moines. Wallace Ogg of Monroe, L. L. Peters of Stuart, Byron Downs of Truro, and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Porter of Lorimor.

A number of relatives and friends from Patterson and Bevington were also in attendance, Mrs. Lytle having lived in that vicinity.

Patterson -

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Kinnaird and children, Veretta and George, Mr. and Mrs. L. Clelland, and son John, Mr. Denver Johnston and Maxine Fay and Wendell Lytle attended the funeral of Mrs. W. A. Lytle in Winterset Sunday.
