JACOB A. LYON OF WINTERSET DIES

Life-Long Resident of Scott Township Was 84 Years of Age

Jacob A. Lyon, a life-time resident of Scott township, died Sunday, March 4, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Lyon was born in Scott township Oct. 3, 1877, a son of William Jerome and Clara Doty Lyon. His active life was spent in farming, but he had been retired in recent years.

He was a member of the Methodist church and the I.O.O.F. lodge at Patterson.

Mr. Lyon was married Jan. 18, 1905 to Viola Hope, who survives him. He also leaves four children, Linden E. Lyon of Seattle, Wash., Forrest D. Lyon of Booneville, Mrs. Audrey M. Woodruff of Des Moines and Nalda Lyon of Winterset; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Lloyd and Frederick E. Lyon of Des Moines; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary McCleary of Carlisle, Mrs. Pearl Bradley of Los Angeles, Mrs. Clyde Hope of Leon and Mrs. Bertha Walford of Osceola. One son, Lester A. Lyon, preceded him in death.

Funeral service will be from the Collins Funeral home this Wednesday, in charge of Rev. Wm. C. Trmbley, pastor of the Patterson Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Union Chapel Cemetery.
