Raymond Lyddon, Winterset

Raymond Wayne Lyddon, 93, died of heart failure July 14, 2002, at Winterset Care Center North.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 18, at the First Baptist Church in Winterset with Elder Larry Pearl officiating. Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. today (Wednesday, July 17) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset where the family will be present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Penn Center Cemetery. A reception with the family will be held at the First Baptist Church immediately following the burial.

Wayne Lyddon was born Jan. 11, 1909, in Penn Township, Madison County, to William Orville and Jessie Mable (Henry) Lyddon. He married Hazel Chapman on March 12, 1932 in Missouri. A lifelong area resident, Wayne was a farmer, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church and Farm Bureau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.

He is survived by his wife, Hazel of Winterset; two sons, Marvin Lyddon (wife Chrys) of Chaska, Minn., and Richard Lyddon (wife Pat) of Montezuma; two daughters, Darlene Shoff (husband Jerry) of Livingston, Mont., and Marilyn Day (husband Neal) of Earlham; a sister, Eileen Tabor (husband Warren) of Minneapolis, Minn., a brother, Carmon Lyddon (wife Leona) of Casey; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Madison County Health Trust or Primitive Baptist Church, both of Winterset.
