Death Came Suddenly Upon Arriving Home From Hospital
Mrs. Alfred Cummings, a resident of Winterset for the past several years, died at her home here Tuesday. She had undergone an operation at a Des Moines hospital several weeks ago, and was thought to have recovered sufficiently to be brought home, but died suddenly shortly after reaching her home here Tuesday. She was 50 years of age.
Mrs. Cummings was the former Katherine Edghill, daughter of James and Alice Edghill, and she was born July 1, 1894, in Franklin county, Nebraska. She was married Oct. 7, 1917 to Alfred Cummings.
She leaves her husband; and four sons, Alfred of Washington, D. C., and Robert, Kenneth and Wayne of Winterset.
Funeral services had not been completed as the Madisonian went to press Wednesday.

Mrs. Alfred Cummings, of near Winterset, died at her home on Tuesday, July 11, at the age of 49 years. Mrs. Cummings had underwent a surgical operation several weeks ago from which she recovered sufficiently to be returned to her home Tuesday, but died suddenly upon reaching there. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at the time this newspaper went to press.
Alice Katherine Edgehill, daughter of James and Alice Edgehill, was born in Franklin, Nebraska, July 1, 1894. She was united in marriage to Alfred Cummings on October 7, 1917, and to them were born five children. One daughter died in infancy.
She was united with the Methodist church several years ago, of which she was a member at the time of her death.
She is survived by her husband, four sons, Alford Cummings of Washington, D.C., and Robert, Kenneth and Wayne of Winterset.
