MRS. JOHANNA CAUDLE RITES HELD JAN. 20

Winterset Resident Died on Jan. 16, at Age of 80 Years

Funeral services for Mrs. Johanna Caudle of Winterset, who died at the Hammond Nursing home in West Des Moines on Jan. 16, were held from the Ramsey-Richards Funeral home in Winterset on Jan. 20. The Rev. William Suckow, pastor of the Van Meter United Brethren church officiated. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Caudle was the former Johanna Pehrson, and was born in Sweden Sept. 15, 1865 and died at the age of 80 years. She came to the United States with her parents when she was 5 years old.

She was married to Aaron Caudle, in 1883, in Hamilton county. In 1901, they moved to a farm in Madison county. Mr. Caudle died in 1910, and in 1921 she moved into Winterset.

She is survived by three sons, M. C. Caudle of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., and G. F. Caudle and L. R. Caudle of Winterset; an adopted daughter, Gertrude Allen of Monrovia, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Nick and Fritz Pehrson of Ellsworth.

Winterset Madisonian - Wednesday, January 16, 1946

Mrs. Johanna Caudle, a resident of Madison county for 45 years, died at the Hammand Nursing home in West Des Moines Wednesday morning. She was 80 years of age and had been in failing health for some time.

Mrs. Caudle was a native of Sweden, but came to Madison county in 1901. Her husband preceded her in death. Her nearest surviving relatives are her four children, Gene Caudle of Winterset; L. R. Caudle of Jefferson township, M. C. Caudle of Tennessee, and Mrs. Fred Allen of Monrovia, Calif.

Funeral services will be held from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, but the time for the rites had not been set as the Madisonian went to press.
