MRS. JOHN FOLAND DIED AUGUST 10TH

Mrs. John W. Foland of Peru, 83 years old, died at her home on Thursday, August 10, and funeral services were conducted at the Peru Methodist church by Rev. Francis B. Harris on Sunday afternoon, August 13. Interment was at the Wick Cemetery.

Lora Ellen McKimmy, daughter of John and Jane McKimmy, was born at Indianola February 22, 1861, and lived in the Indianola until her marriage on February 18, 1885, to John William Foland. They made their home in Michigan, Nevada, Kansas, Blakesburg, Iowa, before coming to Madison county. She was a member of the Methodist church of Peru.

Five children were born to them, two daughters preceding her in death. Mr. Foland died in December, 1913. Since then she has made her home with her brother near Barney and with her daughters in Peru.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dora Jordan and Mrs. Percy Crees, both of Peru; one son, Walter of Los Angeles; a sister Mary Crawford of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

MRS. LORA FOLAND DIED ON THURSDAY

83-Year-Old Woman Had Spent Declining Years in Walnut Township

Mrs. Lora E. Foland died at her home in Peru last Thursday at the advanced age of 83 years.

Mrs. Foland was born at Indianola on Feb. 22, 1861, the daughter of John and Jane McKinney. She lived at Indianola until her marriage to John W. Foland on Feb. 18, 1885. For five years they lived on a farm near Indianola, and then moved to Michigan. After three years in Michigan, they spent seven years in Nevada, and then returned to Iowa to live for 12 years at Blakesburg. From there they moved to Kansas. After three years there she came to Madison county to live with her brother near Barney for several years, and then with her daughters in and near Peru.

She was the mother of five children, four daughters and a son. Two of the daughters preceded her in death. Mr. Foland died Dec. 17, 1913.

She was long active in church work in the various communities in which she lived, and at the time of her death was a member of the Peru Methodist church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dora Jordan and Mrs. Pauline Crees of Peru; a son, Walter Foland of Los Angeles, Calif.; a sister, Mary Crawford of Des Moines; nine grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted from the Peru Methodist church Sunday, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. Francis B. Harris. Burial was made in the Wick cemetery.
