MRS. C. D. LOEHR DIES AT CLARINDA

Wife of Former Winterset Pastor Was 78 Years Of Age

Mrs. Clement D. Loehr, a resident of Winterset from 1949 to 1953 when her husband was pastor of the First Presbyterian church here, died recently at Clarinda. She was 78 years of age.

Mrs. Loehr was the former Grace Margaret Davidson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davidson. She was born at Stanwood on October 20, 1886. She graduated from Stanwood high school, attended Monmouth college at Monmouth, Ill., and graduated from the State University of Iowa at Iowa City. As a young woman, she was a teacher, before her marriage to the Rev. Clement D. Loehr on Dec. 20, 1910.

The Rev. and Mrs. John Loehr served the Presbyterian church in Iowa for 26 years and in Minnesota, Ohio and Illinois for 24 years. Their pastorate at Winterset from 1949 to 1953, moving from her to Clarinda, where they retired in 1957. In 1959 they were recalled to serve at Essex for four years, but had again retired and moved back to Clarinda two years ago.

Mrs. Loehr is survived by her husband; three sons, the Rev. Franklin D. Loehr of Princeton, N.J., Howard C. Loehr of Irving, Texas, and J. C. Loehr of Dallas, Texas; four daughters, Mrs. Margaret Hemphill of Clarinda, Mrs. Kathryn Stevenson of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Mary E. Suplee of Jackson, Miss., and Doris Robinson of Rome, Italy. She also leaves 34 grandchildren and three great grandchildren; two brothers, Charles Davidson of Clarinda and Kenneth Davidson of New Virginia; and three sisters, Bertha Davidson of Des Moines, Mrs. Lois Bussard of Atlantic and Mrs. Dorothy Borthwick of Indianola.

Funeral services were held for the family at the Loehr residence, conducted by her pastor, the Rev. D. C. Davis and her son, the Rev. Franklin D. Loehr. Burial was made in the Stanwood cemetery.
