ROY STRAIN, Winterset

Funeral services were held today at 10 a.m. at Collins Funeral Home for Roy Strain of Winterset. Strain, 85, died at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines on Dec. 27, 1981.

Born on Dec. 23, 1896 in Waukee, Iowa, he was the son of David and Mary Clements Strain. On April 30, 1912 he married Hazel Peterson in Polk County.

A retired farmer, Mr. Strain had lived the past 23 years in Winterset, moving here from Polk County. He was a past member of the Farm Bureau and the Pork and Beef Producers.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, a sister, and a grandson.

Survivors include his wife Hazel; a sister, Florence Tritten of Sun City, Ariz.; three sons, Raymond of Overland Park, Kan., Russell of Yuba City, Calif. and Dale of Fremont, Calif.; a daugher, Darlene Lewallen of Crobett, Oregon; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Burial was at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines with Rev. Byron Ayers officiating.
