Earlham Rites for Mrs. Morris

Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis E. Morris of Madison township will be held this Thursday, July 3, at 1:30 p.m. from the Earlham Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Morris died Monday, June 30, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. She was 61 years of age.

Rosalie Morris was born in Madison County on Nov. 2nd, 1913, a daughter of Davis S. and Bessie Kerr Ralston.

Mrs. Morris was a member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church, where she was active in music work.

She is survived by her husband, two sons, Brian of Earlham and David of Burbank, Calif.; three daughters, Mrs. Beth Belcher of Colorado Springs, Colo., Mrs. Helen Summy of Earlham, and Martha Morris of Earlham; six grandchildren, three brothers, Russell Ralston of Earlham, Walter Ralston of Omaha, Nebr., and Howard Ralston of Waterloo, Iowa; and one sister, Mrs. Grace Grady of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Officiating at the service this Thursday will be the Rev. Don Taylor. Burial will be in the Waukee cemetery.

Earlham Echo – July 10, 1975

Rosalie Pearl (Ralston) Morris, the third child of David Shannon Ralston and Bessie Kerr, was born November 2, 1913 at the farm home two miles west of Earlham. She passed away early Monday morning, June 30, 1975 at the Madison County Memorial hospital after a three month illness.

On December 30, 1939 she was united in marriage to Lewis E. Morris of Grimes, Iowa at the Earlham Presbyterian church. She is survived by her husband, Lewis E., two sons and three daughters who are David K. of Burbank, California, Beth E. Belcher of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Helen L. Summy, Martha G. and Brian H., all of Earlham.

Also surviving are four granddaughters and two grandsons.

Three brothers survive: Russell K. Ralston of Earlham; Walter V. Ralston of Omaha, Nebraska and Howard J. Ralston of Waterloo, and one sister Grace (Mrs. Wayne Grady) of Cedar Rapids. Her parents preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Earlham high school in 1931 and Iowa State College in 1938. She was employed by the U.S. Farm Security Administration as a Home Supervisor for two years prior to her marriage.

She maintained membership in the Iowa State University Home Economics Alumni Assn., Madison County Historical Society and the Seven Bridges Sweet Adelines organizations.

She was currently serving as Madison County Farm Bureau Women’s vice chairman. She served 4 years on the Madison County Extension Council, as a 4-H leader and fair judge. She engaged very actively in the life of the Earlham Presbyterian church and the S. W. Iowa Presbytery. In recent years she was most active in singing in the church choir.

Last rites were held at the First Presbyterian church in Earlham on July 3, at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Taylor officiating. Interment was at Waukee. Evans-McKee Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
