William Patterson, Winterset

William "Bill" Patterson, 80, of Winterset died Aug. 21, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset, officiating by Pastor Bobb Barrick. Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 24 from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel, where the family will be present to receive friends from noon to 8 p.m.

He was born on Sept. 9, 1924, in Winterset, the son of Bradley Patterson and Lucille (Smith) Patterson. Bill graduated from Winterset High School in 1942. He married his wife, Treva Jordan, on Aug. 7, 1950 in Sterling, Colo.

He was active in the Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years and served in the Marine Corps in World War II. Bill lived his life in Winterset except for his time in the military.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two sister, Phyllis Patterson and Virginia Stone.

He is survived by his wife, Treva of Winterset; two sisters, Martha Gurney of Sun Lakes, Arizona and Mary Duncan of Minneapolis, Minn.; and a son, Ed Patterson and wife Mary Jane of Deerfield Beach, Fla.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.

Winterset

William “Bill” Patterson, 80, of Winterset, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. A funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. Burial will be at a later date in the Winterset Cemetery following cremation.

Bill had been a lifetime farmer and had lived his whole life in Winterset except for the time he spent in the military. He was a 1942 graduate of Winterset High School. Bill was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Marine Corp. He had been a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge and a member of the American Legion Post #184 of Winterset.

Bill is survived by his wife, Treva Patterson of Winterset; son, Ed (Mary Jane) Patterson of Deerfield Beach, FL; and sisters, Martha Gurney of Sun Lakes, AZ, and Mary Duncan of Minneapolis, MN.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset where his family will greet friends for 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church.
