Mrs. Clara Wight, life long resident of Madison county, died Wednesday morning, October 3rd, 1951, at her home on East North street, at the age of 81 years. Mrs. Wight, had been in poor health for several months, and had been released from the Madison county Memorial hospital, Monday, after having been treated there for three weeks.
Mrs. Wight, was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Abrams, and was born on their farm, in Douglas township, August 7, 1870. Here she was married to Theodore Wight, and they continued to reside in Douglas township. They were the parents of one son, Wallace W. Wight. The husband and father died 57 years ago, and the son, Wallace died in January 1948. Mrs. Wight had resided for many years in the home on North street. She was an active member of the Church of Christ and of the Women's relief corps.
Mrs. Wight is survived by a brother, James Abrams, aged 87, who made his home with her, and her daughter-in-law, Mrs. W. W. Wight, also of Winterset.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Oct. 5 at 3 p.m., from the Richards Funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Sherman Hanson of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
