Everett Hougham, 91, of Booneville died Aug. 31, 2006, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Sept. 5, at the Booneville United Methodist Church. Burial was at Booneville Cemetery with military honors performed by VFW Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset.
Everett Hougham was born Oct. 31, 1914, in rural Burchinal to Travis Cecil and Dora Elizabeth (Macy) Hougham. His marriage to Lucylle D. Jungman took place May 1, 1938, in Des Moines. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II. Everett owned and managed a grocery store, worked in home construction, was a carpenter for the state of Iowa and owned and managed a motel until his retirement in 1980. He was a lifetime member of the Booneville United Methodist Church where he taught adult Sunday school for over 30 years. He also was a lifetime member of the American Legion and served on the Dallas County School Board.
He was preceded in death by his wife and a sister, Verda Irene Hougham.
He is survived by two daughters, Jean E. Mark of Creston and Jill Martens of Booneville; and six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Booneville United Methodist Church.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset.
