James Lemon, Winterset

James Earl Lemon, 70, of Winterset died May 6, 2005 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 10 at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Pastor Dean Porter officiating.

Jim Lemon was born Aug. 12, 1934 in Winterset to LeRoy and Dorothy (Sheldon) Lemon. On April 28, 1955, he married Joann Pettit. A lifetime resident of Winterset, Jim had been a longtime roofer in the Winterset area. He also had driven a school bus for the Winterset Community School District and worked at Capital City Brand in Norwalk before retiring eight years ago. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset.

He is survived by his wife, Joann of Winterset; two sons, Jim Lemon of Earlham and Kevin Lemon of Ankeny; three daughters, Anita Allen and her husband Tom, and Robin Danielson, both of Des Moines, and Jeanie Purscell of Earlham; three brothers, Francis Lemon of Winterset, Bill Lemon of Thayer and John Lemon of Lorimor; a sister, Dora Hibdon of Lorimor; and nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
