Gregory Leggitt, the son of Paul and Karen McCain Leggitt was born August 22, 1958 in Des Moines, Iowa. He died November 23, 1981 when his truck was involved in an accident with a train near Kansas City, Missouri.
Greg grew up on the family farm in Madison County south of Earlham and attended Earlham Community School.
For the past two years Greg had been employed as a crew foreman with Ren De Company, contractors for cable T.V. installation. He made his home in the Kansas City area for the past several months.
Greg's hobby was Harley-Davidson motorcyles. At the time of his death he was building a show cycle. He received much enjoyment from his hobby and spent many hours working on it.
Survivors include his loving parents, Paul and Karen Leggitt of Route 4, Winterset; one sister, Cindi Leggitt of Des Moines; one nephew, Dustin Leggitt and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mabel McCain of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents and his maternal grandfather.
Funeral services were held at McKee Funeral Home in Earlham, Iowa, on November 27, 1981 at 1:00 p.m. Priest Renald Eden of Independence, Missouri officiated. Casket bearers were Donald Biddle, Russell Bodtke, Cecil Clark, Steven Clark, Michael Linn and James McCain.
Interment was at Stringtown Cemetery, Madison County, Iowa.
