RUSSELL GARRETT DIED THURSDAY
Funeral services were held here this Monday for Russell L. Garrett of Winterset, who died at the Madison County Memorial Hospital on Thursday, November 28. He was 76 years of age.
Russell L. Garrett was born in New York City on August 17, 1898, the son of Edward E. and Ethel Shaffer Garrett. He was married to M. Lillian Grandfield at Afton, Iowa on December 25, 1923.
During his lifetime, Mr. Garrett worked as a mechanic, as an assistant plant engineer for the R.E.A. at Creaton, and as a carpenter. He had lived in Madison County for the past year and one-half.
Mr. Garrett was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 47 at Creston.
Survivors include his wife, M. Lillian Garrett; and four sons; Marvin Garrett of Kansas, Raymond Garrett of Wisconsin, Donald Garrett of rural Creston, and Robert Garrett of Kinston, North Carolina.
Also surviving are 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by one sister.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 2, at the Collins Funeral Home in Winterset, with the Rev. H. E. Borum presiding. Burial was in the Moon Cemetery at Macksburg, with I.O.O.F. graveside services.
