Maranda D. Smith
The subject of this notice was born in Rockcastle county, Kentucky, August 21, 1825. She moved with her parents to Indiana and from there to Iowa in 1848. This has been her home ever since with the exception of three or four years spent in the south. She was united in marriage to Allen M. Hubbard November 18, 1869.
She attended the Primitive Baptist church when opportunity afforded, never uniting with the church though a firm believer in the faith of the same. She often expressed herself to her friends as having a strong hope in Jesus, stating that she had the evidence within. She was very kind and generous with all whom she associated, was honest and upright in all the walks of life.
Her family relations consisted of five brothers and six sisters, all of whom have preceded her to the beyond except Elija Smith of Audubon county, Iowa and Asa B. Smith of Madison county, Iowa, and Mrs. Margaret Stinson and Mrs. Permelia Kerns both of Winterset, Iowa.
Mrs. Hubbard expressed herself as being ready and willing to depart this life which came to her at eleven o'clock on the night of March 7, 1907. Her husband died March 18, 1905.
Funeral services were conducted by Elder W. M. Rose, assisted by Elder F. M. Jordan.

Friday, March 15, 1907Mrs. Hubbard, an aged woman living alone in the north west part of town, died Saturday and was buried on Sunday in the Baptist cemetery. Her husband, John Hubbard died several years ago. She leaves several children.
