HERMAN WIPPERMAN SUCCUMBED MONDAY

World War Veteran Died at Veterans Hospital at Age of 47 Years

Herman H. Wipperman, a well known resident of Union township for about 11 years, died at the Veteran's hospital in Des Moines Monday evening.

Mr. Wipperman was a World War veteran. He had been in the Veteran's hospital in Chicago for several months before coming to the Des Moines hospital.

Mr. Wipperman was 47 years of age. He was born and reared near Grimes.

He is survived by his wife; and his son, Keith Wipperman.

Funeral services were to be held from the Lutheran church at Grimes Wednesday afternoon, with burial in the cemetery there.

Herman H. Wipperman, well known resident of Union township died at the Veterans hospital in Des Moines Monday, September 7th. Mr. Wipperman, who was 47 years of age, was a World war veteran. He had been in poor health for several years and had been at the Hines Veterans hospital near Chicago, Ill. Before entering the Des Moines hospital.

Herman Henry Wipperman was born at Grimes on September 26, 1895, the son of J. F. Wipperman and Amelia Kuel. He spent his childhood on his father’s farm in that vicinity. He became a member of the Lutheran church in his childhood and retained that membership through his life. He was married to Miss Lora Zornes, April 18, 1917. That same year he enlisted in the U. S. army and served for 11 months in France in the field hospital service. During his absence, a daughter, Lora Eunice, was born, but died two months later. A son Keith was later born to Mr. and Mrs. Wipperman.

H. WIPPERMAN DIES AT AGE 46

Last Rites Conducted At Grimes. Wife and Son Survive

Herman H. Wipperman, resident of Madison county for the past 10 years, died at the Veterans’ hospital in Des Moines last Monday at the age of 46 years 11 months and 17 days.

Funeral services were conducted from the Lutheran church at Grimes on Wednesday, September 9, with the Rev. E. W. Mueller of Martensdale officiating. Interment was made in the Grimes cemetery.

Herman Harry Wipperman was born at Grimes on September 20, 1895, the son of J. F. Wipperman and Amelia Kuel. He spent his childhood on his father’s farm in that vicinity. He became a member of the Lutheran church in his childhood and retained that membership through his life.

He was united in marriage to Laura Zernes on April 18, 1917. That same year he enlisted in the U. S. Army and served for 11 months in France in the Field Hospital Service. During his absence a daughter, Laura Eunice was born, but died two months later. Later, a son, Keith was born

The early part of his married life was spent on a farm near Grimes and 1932 he moved to a farm near Winterset which was his home up to the time of his death.

Besides his wife and son he is survived by three brothers, Edward of Minburn, Rev. J. F. Of Morgan, Minnesota, and August of Grimes; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Knoll and Mrs. Mary Knoll, both of Grimes and Mrs. Amelia House of Des Moines as well as many other relatives and friends.
