Mrs. Nancy Jane Camp, a pioneer Iowa woman, died on Wednesday of last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Joe Kirk, in Monroe township. She was 83 years of age.
Mrs. Camp was the former Nancy Jane O'Brien, daughter of John and Nancy O'Brien, and was born near Farmington on July 23, 1859. Her father died when she was 9 months old. Her mother was later married to William Mann, and she was reared in their home. As a small child she moved with them to Peoria county, Illinois, where she was married on Sept. 2, 1877 to Lemuel J. Camp. In 1879 she and her husband moved to Gage, Neb., then to Norton county, Kansas, where they lived until 1896. In that year they settled near Murray, in Clarke county, where they resided until the death of her husband in 1937. Since that time she had made her home with her children.
Mrs. Camp was the mother of nine children. One daughter, Nannie, died in 1906.
At the age of 15 years she united with the Baptist church, later transferring to the Church of Christ at Madison Chapel, of which she was a charter member.
