REV. WM. R. SAWHILL DIES

A telegram received here last Thursday announced the death of Rev. Wm. R. Sawhill of Seattle, Washington. His brother, Wallace Sawhill was with him at the time of his death and his other brother John C. Sawhill, left for Seattle Thursday night.

Ralston, as he was known to his friends here, grew to manhood on the Sawhill farm in Jackson township; was pastor of a Seattle United Presbyterian church for many years, resigning his work to do work as synodical superintendent of church activities in the northwest section of the United States. He prepared for the ministry at Monmouth college, after graduation from the Winterset high school.

Near relatives are one son somewhere in the armed forces located in Alaska, one daughter, Mary Louise, who teaches in the Seattle schools; also two brothers, W. R., and J. C., one sister, Mrs. Zelza Aitchison of Iroquois, S. Dak., and a cousin, Mrs. A. C. Barr of this vicinity.

He visited the old home here annually on his journeys to the General Assembly of his church, and on these occasions, often filled the pulpit at Pitzer, so long filled by his father, the Rev. James Sawhill who came to this county in the 70's.
