JOHN LATHRUM OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Death Occurs at 80 Years at Memorial Hospital in Winterset

John W. Lathrum, a life-long resident of Madison county, died Sunday, Nov. 25, at Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. He was 80 years of age, and had been in failing health the last four years.

Mr. Lathrum was born Oct. 18, 1882, on the Lathrum farm in the Elm Grove neighborhood. He later moved to St. Charles, where he served as a barber through his active life.

He was married Nov. 22, 1922 to Alice Barnett of Indianola. they were parents of two sons and two daughters, one of whom, Mrs. Alice Latiano, preceded him in death in 1959.

He united with the Elm Grove Methodist Church as a young man, later transferring to the St. Charles Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Louis Lathrum of Indianola and Jesse Lathrum of Des Moines; a daughter, Mrs. Mary J. Adams of Martensdale; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held last Wednesday from the St. Charles Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Howard Cho. Burial was made in the St. Charles cemetery.
