E. J. TILTON DIED LAST SATURDAY

Monroe Township Resident Succumbed at Winterset Hospital

Elvin J. Tilton, one of Madison county's well known farmers, and a life-long resident of the county, died last Saturday at the Winterset hospital. He was 60 years of age.

Mr. Tilton was the son of Thomas and Phoebe Tilton, and was born on a farm in this county on Dec. 31, 1882. He was married to Alta W. Weeks on Nov. 9, 1910. They settled on a farm in Monroe township near the Fellowship church, where they lived for 30 years.

Mr. Tilton's death was the first in a family of 10 children. He is survived by his wife; nine brothers and sisters, the Misses Cora and Carrie Tilton of Winterset, Mrs. Lenore Cessna of near Patterson, Ben Tilton of Wolfe Point, Mont., William Tilton of Norwalk, Homer and Theodore Tilton of Winterset, Mrs. Myrtle Perkins of Indianola, and Mrs. Lillian Jordan of Davenport. He also leaves a foster son, Kenneth Weeks, who was reared in his home.

Funeral services were held here Monday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
