MRS. HARRIET KELSO DIED LAST FRIDAY

Member of Pioneer Madison County Family was Near 90 Years of Age

Mrs. Harriet Kelso, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Ramsey. Had she lived three more days she would have been 90 years of age.

Mrs. Kelso was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herren. Her father managed the old White and Munger Woolen mills just west of Winterset in pioneer days. She was born in Vermont on March 29, 1853, but came to Winterset with her parents at the age of 16 years. Here she was married in 1875, to H. C. Kelso. They moved to Buena Vista county where they lived for 20 years. After returning to this county, they spent the remainder of their lives here.

Mr. and Mrs. Kelso were the parents of two children, a son and a daughter. The son, Ross B. Kelso, died in 1906. Mr. Kelso died in 1923. Since then she had made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ramsey.

Mrs. Kelso was a long-time member of the First Presbyterian church in Winterset.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, in charge of the Rev. Arthur Mortenson, pastor of the Winterset Presbyterian church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
