Ward R. Lane, Truro

Ward Rochelle Lane, 83, of Truro died Aug. 10, 2001 of complications following surgery at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Revs. Sandy Mercer and Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial was at Peru Cemetery with military rites performed by V.F.W. Post 8142 of Winterset.

Ward Lane was born Sept. 12, 1917 to Ralph Eugene and Mae Naomi (Patterson) Lane of Prescott. He received his education in the Creston School District. On Sept. 8, 1943, he married Alberta Helen Pearson in Grant City, Mo. Ward, a lifetime farmer, had lived in the Estherville area before moving to the Truro area in 1962. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 8142 in Winterset, National Farm Organization and Truro Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by two daughters, Kay Johnson (husband Mike) of Winterset and Darla Lane of Truro; and a sister, Helen Skaggs of Earlham.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Truro.
