Phillip Lane, 83, of Van Meter, died of a respiratory ailment April 11, 1999 at Winterset Care Center North.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 14) at Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Phillip Lane was born Feb. 15, 1916 in Union Township, Madison County, to Thomas and Stella (Cooper) Lane. He spent most of his life in Van Meter. He married Hilda H. Hansen on Nov. 10, 1939 in West Des Moines. Phillip was a retired locomotive engineer for Penn-Dixie Cement and had been a volunteer fireman for the Van Meter Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by his wife, four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by one son, Roger Lane of West Des Moines; two daughters, Sharon North of Ruleville, Miss., and Linda Arrasmith of Adel; one brother, Don Lane of Washington, D.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
