John Francis Landolt, 76, of Winterset, died of cancer June 16, 1998 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset with Father Ed Pfeffer officiating. Burial was in Winterset Cemetery. Special graveside services were conducted by American Legion Post 562 of Cumming.
John Landolt was born May 23, 1922, in Gilmore City to Ignatius and Grace (Shuck) Landolt. He married Mary Jane Dusenbery April 9, 1947, in Des Moines. John was a retired groundskeeper for the Des Moines Waterworks and an Army veteran of World War II. A resident of Winterset for the past year and one-half, he was a member of the American Legion in Cumming, V.F.W. in Mountain Home, Ark., and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter and five brothers.
He is survived by two sons, Barry and wife of Dubuque and Gilbert and wife of Tomah, Wis.; three daughters, Deborah Bennett and husband of Des Moines, Pamela Warner and husband of Norwalk and Theresa Landolt of Des Moines; two brothers, Art of Hermann, Mo., and Richard of Aurora, Calif.; four sisters, Mary Penisten, Olivia Sandvig and Louise Sandvig, all of Des Moines, and Grace Juergens of Carroll; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Winterset.
Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Funeral Home in Winterset.
