Tama Rites For Gerald LaMotte

Gerald C. LaMotte of 517 N. First St. died Monday, December 10, at the home of his son, Rev. Gerald C. LaMotte in Waterloo at the age of 90. An employee of the Chicago & Northwestern Railroad for 40 years, Mr. LaMotte had lived in Winterset since his retirement in 1951.

Born on February 2, 1889 in Anamosa, he was the son of Lafayette and Estella Hampton LaMotte. He was married on November 18, 1912 in Tama to Pearl J. Groves, who survives him. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Estella; his son, Rev. Gerald C. LaMotte of Waterloo; a daughter, Doris Devine of Patterson; nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama with Rev. LaMotte officiating.
