1965RICHARD W. LADD DIES IN ARKANSAS
Richard W. Ladd, a native of Winterset, died Monday, Feb. 15 at Charleston, Ark. He would have been 31 years of age on Feb. 22.
Mr. Ladd was born at Winterset, Feb. 22, 1934, a son of Walter and Charlotte Ladd. He was a grandson of the late Robert Brittain and John Ladd of this community.
He received his education in Des Moines, and as a young man enlisted in the U. S. army, serving seven years in the United States, Hawaii and Europe. More than three years were spent in the French zone of Germany. He attained the rank of Master sergeant.
After his discharge he was employed by the Boyer Petroleum company of Des Moines, until he was disabled by a rare muscular disease, myasthenia. After he was stricken with this illness,he moved to Arkansas.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Maxine Ladd; two small children, Calvin and Connie; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ladd of Des Moines; three brothers, Robert Ladd of Cucamonga, Calif., and William and Philip Ladd of Des Moines; and three sisters, Joane Ladd and Mrs. Julia Kauffman of Des Moines and Mrs. Donna Nicoloisen of Perry.
Funeral services were held Feb. 17 in the Baptist church at Vesta, Ark, with burial in Tate cemetery there.
