BILL TUTTLE, Chariton

Bill "Larry" Tuttle, 64, of Chariton died of an aneurysm, Aug. 22, 2002, at the Mayo Foundation - Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Funeral services were held Monday, Aug. 26, a Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset the Rev. Jim Russell officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites conducted by V.F.W. Post 8142 and American Legion Post 184, both of Winterset.

Bill Tuttle was born Aug. 1, 1938, to Charles and Margaret (Guion) Tuttle of Polk City. He was a 1957 graduate of Lorimor High School. On March 3, 1990, he married Shirley Hughes Vanora at the Scotch Ridge United Presbyterian Church in Warren County. Bill worked for Goodyear for 27 years and Bridgestone Firestone for nine years. He had resided in Des Moines from 1988 to 1996 and in Chariton since l996. He was a member of the Iowa Bow Hunters Association, Turn In Poachers (T.I.P.) and the Pope and Young Club and a past member of Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited. He also was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a half brother.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley, of Chariton; a daughter, Kelli Mahlow (husband Marty) of Ankeny; a son, Randy Tuttle (wife Jacki) of Sikeston, Mo.; two stepdaughters, Dawn Mefferd of Des Moines and Vicki Sallman (husband Steve) of Indianola; two sisters, Blanche Dykes of Des Moines and Betty Bone (husband Elmer) of Roseburg, Ore.; four brothers, Tom Tuttle (wife Donna) of Peru, Bob Tuttle (wife Glenda) of Winterset, Paul Tuttle of Truro and John Tuttle (wife Ilene) of Norwalk; two half brothers; four half sisters; a stepmother; and eight grandchildren.
