Laura Louise Kobarg, 82, of Galveston, Texas, died Jan. 19, 2003 at Turner Geriatric Center in Galveston.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 25, at the First Lutheran Church in Galveston, with the Rev. Douglas Guthier officiating.
Laura Kobarg was born April 23, 1920 in Winterset to William Bradshaw and Grace (Wescot) Abrahams. A graduate of Winterset High School, she attended the American Institute of Business in Des Moines on a basketball scholarship. Laura moved to Galveston in 1939 to play basketball and work for the American Insurance Company. She also worked for UTMB as a secretary for 13 years, retiring in 1985. While living in Galveston, she met her husband of 56 years, Rudolph Kobarg. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Galveston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and four brothers, Clyde, James, George and Charles.
She is survived by a daughter, Judy Kelso of Galveston; a son, Rudolph Kobarg Jr. of Del Rio, Texas; sister, Mary Null of San Diego, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Malloy & Son Funeral Home in Galveston.
