David L. Hunter, 70, died Friday evening, April 17 at the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan. Funeral services were held April 21 at First Church of the Nazarene, St. Joseph, Mo., with the Rev. Kenneth Kirk officiating.
Mr. Hunter was born July 6, 1921 in Clarinda to Benjamin and Emma (Goodwin) Hunter, attended the N.W. Nazarene College in Nampa, Idaho and was ordained in 1958. He married Dorothy Morlan in Carbon on June 7, 1945. During his life he pastored in the states of Iowa, Nebraska, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma and was still ordained in the Iowa District. He retired in 1981 from Winterset and moved to Troy, Kans., then to Wathena, Kan. He was a World War II Army veteran and attended the First Church of the Nazarene in St. Joseph, Mo.
He was preceded in death by half-brother.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Ben of Wathena, Kan. And the Rev. Donald of Wimbleton, N.D.; a daughter, Mary Jane Jensen of Wathena, Kan., a brother, Donald of Seattle, Wash; ten grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Burial was at Oak Grove Cemetery, Clarinda. Memorial contributions may be made to the missionary society at First Church of the Nazarene, St. Joseph, Mo.
