IRA TUCKER Dies At 87

Funeral services for J. Ira Tucker, long-time farmer in the Macksburg area, will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Macksburg Methodist church.

Mr. Tucker died Tuesday at Madison County Memorial hospital following a week's illness. He was 87 years of age.

A son of John and Emma Irvin Tucker, he was born on June 9, 1880, at What Cheer, Iowa. He was educated in the What Cheer and Lorimor schools, and also attended Capitol City Commercial college in Des Moines.

On Oct. 8, 1908 he was married to Mattie Cochran, at Winterset. A retired farmer, he spent most of his life in the vicinity of Macksburg. He was a member of Fellowship Church.

Surviving are his wife, nine children, Ruth Tucker of Mason City, Helen Walter of Boulder, Colorado, Dean of Lorimor, Eleanor Wickstrand of Portland, Oregon, Kathryn Kyner of Boulder, Blaine of Winterset, Keith of Shelbina, Mo., Jean Perkins of Des Moines and Max of Macksburg.

He is also survived by a sister, Irene Carey of Winterset; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

Officiating at the funeral this Thursday will be the Rev. David Kiser and the Rev. Robert Alquist. The body will lie in state at the Macksburg church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in Moon Cemetery.
