Mrs. Earl Knott, a life long resident of Madison and Warren counties, died at St. Charles, last Saturday night, August 5th, at the age of 60 years. She had not been in poor health, and a sudden heart attack caused her death.
Mrs. Knott was the former Chleo Lonene Bumbarger, a daughter of Wesley and Villa Black Bumbarger. She was born in Madison county, December 11, 1906, and always resided near Truro or St. Charles. Her first marriage was to Clyde Armstrong who died in 1957. They had lost a son Max Armstrong, who died in 1955.
She was later married to Earl Knott who survives her. She also leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Bumbarger of St. Charles, two daughters, Mrs. Leota Tuttle of Corydon and Mrs. Betty Walker of Davenport. Two brothers and a sister, Wayne Bumbarger, Arlo Bumbarger and Mrs. Garnita Shutt, all of St. Charles, and six grandchildren also survive Mrs. Knott.
A member of the Christian church of St. Charles, the Rev. Tom Foglesong of Des Moines conducted her funeral services at the church at 1:30 p.m, Tuesday, August 8th, and burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 8, from the St. Charles Christian church for Chleo Lorene Knott, 60, who died Saturday, August 5, at her home in St. Charles. Rev. Tom Foglesong officiated at the 1:30 p.m. services. Interment was in the St. Charles cemetery.
Chleo Lorene Knott was born in Madison county December 11, 1906, daughter of Wesley Bumbarger and Villa Black Bumbarger. She received her education in the Warren County Public Schools and was married on September 26, 1963, to Earl Knott, following the death of her first husband, Clyde Armstrong.
She spent her entire life in Madison and Warren counties and was a member of the St. Charles Christian church.
She is survived by her husband, Earl Knott of St. Charles; parents Mr. and Mrs Wesley Bumbarger of St. Charles, two daughters, Leota Tuttle of Corydon and Betty Walker of Davenport.
Preceding her in death were her first husband, Clyde Armstrong, and one son, Max Armstrong.

Chleo Lorene Knott, daughter of Villa and Wesley Bumbarger, was born December 11, 1906, and passed away at her home in St. Charles, on August 5, 1967. She spent her entire life in Madison and Warren counties.
She was united in marriage to Clyde Armstrong January 20 1926. He preceded her in death on January 28, 1959 after 33 years of marriage. They were the parents of five children, two of whom died in infancy. Their son, Max, preceded her in death in the year 1955. Her surviving daughters, Leota and Betty Lou, are married to Wendell Tuttle of Corydon and William Walker of Davenport respectively.
She was married to Earl Knott, September 26, 1963, at Osceola, Iowa. They made their home in St. Charles. She was a member of the St. Charles Christian church where she was a faithful attendant.
She is survived by her husband, her daughters and their husbands, her parents, six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Garneta Shutt, two brothers, Wayne and Arlo Bumbarger, and many other relatives and friends.
She was a loving mother and wife and will be sadly missed by all who know her.
Funeral services were held August 8 from the St. Charles Christian church with the Rev. Tom Foglesong conducting the 1:30 p.m. services. Burial was in the St. Charles cemetery.
