Harlan Kirkland, Creston

Memorial services for Harlan James Kirkland, 87, were held September 4, at Larkin and Johnson Funeral Home in Creston. He died August 31, 1992, at Greater Community Hospital.

Mr. Kirkland was born July 28, 1905 in Macksburg to George H. and Myrtle (Edington) Kirkland. He married Vera McLarnard December 18, 1938 in Winterset. He worked as a carpenter most of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a sister; and three brothers.

Surviving relatives include two daughters, Thelma Pettet of Newton and Myrtle Thompson of Greenfield; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph Kirkland of Macksburg; two sisters, Dorothy Young of Winterset and Grace Youkin of Missouri; and a special friend, Edna Barnes of Creston.
