A. R. ROGERS DIED SUDDENLY MONDAY

Passes at Winterset Home After Illness of But Few Hours

Albert R. (Sam) Rogers, a life-long resident of Winterset, and one of this communities most respected citizens, died suddenly at his home here Monday after an illness of but a few hours. He was 67 years of age.

Mr. Rogers was a brick mason by trade. He helped construct most of the public buildings in this community in the past half century, and was working on the new Grip-Tite building now being built.

He had served as Winterset park commissioner for 15 years and commissioner of streets for six years.

Mr. Rogers was born in Winterset Nov. 19, 1876, the son of Elihu and Martha Rogers. He was married to Jennie Moore on March 16, 1899. They were the parents of eight children, the oldest of which died in infancy.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Chester Rogers, Robert Rogers and Raymond Rogers, all of Winterset; four daughters, Mrs. Hazle Smith of Macksburg, Mrs. Mary Smith, Mrs. Ruth Brundage and Mrs. Helen Pattie, all of Winterset; 14 grandchildren; two brothers, Ross Rogers of Winterset and Roy Rogers of Macksburg; and two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Meyers of Winterset and Mrs. Ruth Christiansen of Long Beach, Calif.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from Anderson's home for funerals, in charge of the Rev. Tom Foglesong, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.

DIES SUDDENLY HEART AILMENT

A. R. (Sam) Rogers, Became Ill Monday And Died That Evening

A. R. (Sam) Rogers, 67-year-old lifetime resident the Winterset died at his home Monday evening after an illness of only a few hours. He suffered a heart attack earlier in the day and died that same evening.

Mr. Rogers was a brick Mason boast all of his life and had worked on nearly every brick structure in Winterset. He was a former street commissioner and had been a member of the Winterset Park board for more than fifteen years.

Albert Raymond Rogers was born in Madison County November 19, 1876, the son of Elihu and Martha Rogers. He attended the Winterset schools and was married on March 16, 1899 to Jennie Moore also of this county.

Eight children were born, one dying in infancy, and the others with his wife survived him. The children are Mrs. Mary Smith of Winterset, Mrs. Hazel Smith of Macksburg, Mrs. Ruth Brundage and Mrs. Helen Pattee, Chester, Raymond and Robert also Winterset. Two brothers and two sisters also survived him, Roy of Macksburg and Ross of Winterset; Mrs. Mabel Meyers of this city and Mrs. Ruth Christensen of Long Beach, California.

Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Tom Foglesong today (Thursday) at two p.m. at the Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery.
