Ruby Kirk, Winterset

Ruby Irene Kirk, 81, of Winterset, died of a heart ailment Feb. 28, 1996 at the Winterset Care Center North. Funeral services were March 2 at the Lorimor United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dwayne Henrichs and the Rev. Ed Van Holland officiated the services and burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

She was born in Madison County on Jan. 13, 1915 to Albert B. and Gladys C. (Newport) Peterson. She married Gerdon Harvey Kirk on Oct. 1, 1935 in Creston. She was a homemaker and a lifetime resident of Madison County. She was a former member of the Harmony Club and the Deer Creek Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; three sisters; three brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.

Surviving relatives include three daughters, Coleen Williams and husband Donald of Lorimor, Vicky Jo Mateer and husband Darrell of Murray and Dixie Lee Decker and husband Everett of Peru; one brother-in-law, Orville (Bud) Bishop of California; four sisters-in-law, Fern Peterson of Winterset, Kathleen Seales and husband Allen of Lorimor, Norma Woodley and husband Ronald of Lorimor, and Mary Kirk of Lorimor; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
