JOSEPH KIRK OF LORIMOR DIES

Native of England, Came to Lorimor Area At Age of 7 Years

Joseph Kirk, long-time resident of the Lorimor area, died at his home in Monroe township, north of Lorimor, on Monday, June 5. He was 78 years of age.

Mr. Kirk was a native of England, where he was born in Lincolnshire on June 16, 1882, a son of Benjamin and Jane Kirk. When he was 7 years of age he came with his parents to the United States. They settled on a farm in Clarke county, near Lorimmor, where his early life was spent.

On Feb. 24, 1914, he was married to Susie Camp. They lived in Clarke county until 1930 when they moved to Madison county.

He was a charter member of the Madison Chapel Church of Christ; and was affiliated with __(illegible) lodge, No. 558 of the Masonic Order, in which he received a 50-year membership certificate in 1953. He was also a Royal Arch and Knight Templar Mason.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Richard and Gordon Kirk of Lorimor; two daughters, Mrs. Kathleen Seals and Mrs. Norma J. Hines, also of Lorimor; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; six sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services were held June 7 from Madison Chapel, with the Rev. Walter Williams of Murray officiating. Burial was made in Union cemetery.
