Gerden Kirk, Lorimor

Gerden H. Kirk, 77, of Lorimor, died of a respiratory ailment Nov. 13, 1995 at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Thursday, Nov. 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lorimor United Methodist Church in Lorimor. The Rev. Duane Henrichs will officiate the services and burial will be at the Lorimor Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, 1-8 p.m. at the Lorimor Methodist Church.

He was born in Clarke County on Dec. 1, 1917 to Joseph and Susie Belle (Camp) Kirk. He married Ruby Irene Peterson on Oct. 1, 1935 in Creston. He was a farmer and had driven a school bus for Lorimor and East Union Schools for 19 years. He had lived most of his life in Madison County.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; three brother-in-laws; and three sister-in-laws.

Surviving relatives include his wife; three daughters, Coleen Williams and husband Donald of Lorimor, Vicky Jo Mateer and husband Darrell of Murray, and Dixie Decker and husband Everett of Peru; one brother-in-law, Orville "Bud" Bishop of Martinez, Calif; two sisters, Kathleen Seales and husband Allen of Lorimor, and Norma Jane Woodley and husband Ronald of Lorimor; two sister-in-laws, Mary Kirk of Lorimor and Fern Peterson of Winterset; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
