PIONEER VAN METER WOMAN DIES HERE

Mary Moore, Age 87, Passes May 12 at Winterset Hospital

Mary Moore, a pioneer resident of Van Meter, died last Friday at the Winterset hospital. She was 87 years of age.

Miss Moore was the daughter of Nathan and Elizabeth Crowell Moore. Her father was one of the pioneers of Dallas county, having come to Iowa from Virginia in 1845, entering the land on which the town of Van Meter now stands.

She was born near Van Meter on Dec. 4, 1856. For the past few years she had made her home with her sister, Mrs. Etta Fisher, of Winterset.

In addition to her sister, Mrs. Fisher, she is survived by a brother, Abe Moore, of Dallas county.

Funeral services were held Sunday from the Anderson Funeral home here, in charge of the Rev. W. A. Samp, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Van Meter cemetery.
