Funeral services were held Monday, March 16 for George Marshall King, who died Friday, March 13, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines. He was 78 years old.
Born on January 27, 1903 in Madison County, he was the son of William F. King and Mildred Kingery.
In 1927 he married Daisy Dell Herren at Macksburg, Iowa. Four children, three sons and one daughter, were born of the union.
He spent the last 34 years of his life in Lorimor, making a living as a self-employed contractor. He was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church and the Royal Neighbors of America.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth; and two sisters, Sarah King and Stella King Herren.
Survivors include his wife, Daisy; three sons, John King of Creston, George King Jr. of Treynor and Charles (Bill) King of Lorimor; one daughter, Mary Jo Saxton of Decorah; one brother, Elton King of Winterset; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Rev. Kathryn McDougal officiated at the funeral services, held at the Lorimor First United Methodist Church. Burial was at Moon Cemetery, Macksburg.
