Mrs. Nellie F. Travis, member of a pioneer Madison county family, died last Saturday, April 11, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She suffered a heart attack six days before her death.
Mrs. Travis was 76 years of age. She was born June 9, 1882, in the Elm Grove neighborhod a daughter of J. H. and Sarah Jane Hoover and spent practically all her life in Madison county.
She was married Feb. 12, 1902, at Peru to Martin B. Travis, who preceded her in death.
She was a member of the Grace Baptist church in Winterset.
Surviving are three sons, Joe Travis of Denver, Colorado, Earl Travis of Shellsburg, Wendell Travis of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mrs. Maude Simmons of Yakima, Washington and Mrs. Wilma Carter of Winterset; six sisters; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She also leaves her father, Henry Hoover to St. Charles.
Funeral services were held from the Peru Methodist church Sunday in charge of the Rev. Richard G. Mohr, pastor of the Grace Baptist church, assisted by the Rev. Forrest Davis of the Peru Methodist church. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
