FORREST LYON Died Wednesday At Age 59

An active participant in Madison County civic affairs for many years, Forrest "Red" D. Lyon, died Wednesday, November 26, 1975 at age 59 in the Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Mr. Lyon was born June 26, 1916 in Scott Township of Madison County, the son of J. A. Lyon and Viola Z. Hope. His residence was in Lee Township. He was a lifetime resident of Madison County.

Mr. Lyon served as president of the Martensdale-St. Marys school board for over six years. He was affiliated with the Patterson Methodist Church, where he participated as a layman.

A veteran of the Second World War, Mr. Lyon was a member of American Legion Green-Rogers Post 184 in Winterset and a member of the St. Charles Lion's Club.

The marriage of Forrest Lyon and Leona DeBok took place July 9, 1949 at Indianola. She survives her husband with three sons, Ronald, Terry and Gary Lyon and a daughter, Bonnie Stewart, and five grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Nalda Lyon and Audrey Woodruff, both of Des Moines. Forrest Lyon was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter, and two brothers.

Funeral services for Forrest "Red" D. Lyon were conducted Saturday, November 29, 1975 at 10:30 a.m. from the Patterson Methodist Church, the Rev. Eldon Ringle officiating. Burial was made at the Union Chapel Cemetery, Madison County with Military Graveside Services provided by Green Rogers Post 184.
