SONDRA MAPES, Winterset

Sondra Lynette Mapes, 65, of Winterset died Nov. 13, 2005, at her home.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Nov. 16) at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Montpelier Cemetery, Crawford Township, Madison County.

Sondra Mapes was born Sept. 30, 1940, to Floyd and Althea (Hathaway) Housman of Patterson. On Sept. 14, 1958, she married Glenn Mapes. Sondra was employed for 24 years at the Woodward State Hospital as a residential treatment worker, retiring in 2002. She was a member of the Perry Gospel Lighthouse Foursquare Church, where she taught Sunday school. As a child, she attended the Foursquare Gospel Church in Winterset.

She was preceded in death by her father.

She is survived by two daughters, Rhonda Fleming of Des Moines and Alicia Prosser of Perry; three sons, David Mapes and Ron Mapes, both of Perry, and Brian Mapes of Des Moines; her mother, Althea Housman of Winterset; two brothers, Ronald J. Housman of Ames and Terry Housman of Winterset; and 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
