Eugene C. Kile, Winterset

Funeral services for Eugene C. Kile of Winterset, were held at Collins Funeral Home June 26 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Clarence Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Mr. Kile died June 21 at the Bethesda Care Center in Winterset. He was 91 years of age.

He was born in Crab Orchard, Neb., April 24, 1899. He was the son of Henry W. and Maria F. Whitcomb Kile. Soon after this birth the family moved to Madison County where they lived until their death.

After his discharge from the Army after World War I, "Gene" left Madison County for California, where he resided until his marriage to the late Verna Klein on February 10, 1983 in Phoenix, AZ. Shortly thereafter, returned to Madison County where he lived until death. He was a retired employee of the Veterans Administration in Los Angeles.

Mr. Kile was a member of the Patterson First Methodist Church, transferring from Laguna Hills, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul; one sister, Almena; and his late wife, Verna. There were no children. Survivors are three nieces, Joan Mealey of Des Moines, Evelyn Coffman and Norma Shaw of Winterset and three nephews, Wayne and Gail "Tom" Kile of Winterset and Richard Kile of Des Moines.
