Long-Time Resident Passed April 25 in Des Moines Hospital
Mrs. Joseph E. McLarnand, a resident of Madison county during her entire life of 83 years, died at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines on April 25.
Mrs. McLarnand was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rhodes of Lincoln township. She was married to Joseph E. McLarnand on January 30, 1883. Mr. McLarnand preceded her in death in 1928. Since then she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Griswold of Macksburg. Another daughter, Mrs. Leila Fuson, resides in Des Moines. Five of her grandchildren are in the armed forces.
Funeral services were held in Winterset Sunday, April 30, conducted by the Reverends Leonard C. Lee of Des Moines, L. F. Davis and Tom Foglesong. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Page 5, Columns 5 & 6Mrs. Guy Fuson’s mother, Mrs. McLarland, (sic) died Tuesday at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines. She made her home near Macksburg. The body was brought to the Watts funeral home to await funeral arrangements.

Mrs. C. McLarnand of Macksburg, who died last Tuesday in a Des Moines hospital, was buried at Winterset on Sunday where the funeral was also held at the Church of Christ. She was the mother of Mrs. Guy Fuson, formerly of Lorimor.

Mrs. Candace McLarnand died in the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines last Tuesday, April 25. Mrs. McLarnand was 83 years old, and was born and grew to womanhood in Madison county.
Funeral services were held at the church of Christ on Sunday afternoon April 30, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. L. C. Lee of Des Moines and Rev. L. F. Davis of Winterset conducted the service. Interment was made in the Winterset cemetery.
Mrs. Candace A. McLarnand, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Rhodes, was born in Madison County on February 18, 1861. She was united with the Church of Christ when a young girl.
On January 30, 1883 she was united in marriage to Joseph E. McLarnand of this county. To this union were born three daughters and one son. The son, Samuel, died in 1912, and one daughter, Mrs. Beulah Ethel Piatt, died on July 6, 1940. Mr. McLarnand preceded her in death in December 1928, and since that time she is made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Sylvia Griswold.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mrs. Richard Griswold of near Macksburg, and Mrs. Guy Fuson of Des Moines; thirteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
