BEN F. KIDDOO OF WINTERSET DIES

Funeral Services Are Set This Thursday at Two O'clock

Ben F. Kiddoo, a well-known resident of the Macksurg and Winterset communities for many years, died Sunday, March 12 at the Lutheran hospital in Des Moines, following a major operation. He had been in failing health for several months.

Mr. Kiddoo was 60 years of age. He was a native of Mercer county, Illinois, a son of William and Appeline Kiddoo. When he was 15 years of age he moved with his family to Missouri, which was his home until 1922. In that year he moved to Minnesota, living there until 1938, when he came to a farm near Macksburg in this county. For the last five years his home had been in Winterset.

He was married Sept. 10, 1910 to Augusta Holdcroft of Kirksville, Mo. They were the parents of five children. Two sons preceded the father in death. Robert Kiddoo was killed in a hunting accident in Minnesota in 1933, and Ben Kiddoo, Jr., was killed in action in France in 1944 while serving with the American army in World War II.

Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Zelma Krogen of Redwood City, Calif.; two sons, Raymond Kiddoo who is on the home farm at Macksburg and Bill Kiddoo of Winterset; two grandchildren; three brothers, H. G. Kiddoo of Omaha, R. S. Kiddoo of Linden, Kan.. and Albert Kiddoo of Seaton, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. A. C. Greer of Seaton and Mrs. Vic Morrow of Joy, Ill.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p.m. from the Winterset Methodist church, in charge of the Rev. Woodrow Caldwell and the Rev. Glenn Parrott. Burial will be made in the Winterset cemetery. The body will be at the Watts funeral home in Macksburg prior to the services.
