MRS. MABEL V. KECK DIES IN DES MOINES

Long-Time Resident of Scott Township Was 82 Years of Age

Mrs. Mabel V. Keck, a resident of Madison county during most of her l ife, died Saturday, Dec. 16, in Des Moines, where she had lived the last seven years. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Keck was the former Mabel V. Lyon, daughter of Jerome and Clara Lyon, and was born Dec. 5, 1879, in the Union Chapel community of Scott township. She was married in 1899 to William A. Quick. They spent their active life in Scott township, until 1951, when they moved into Patterson. Mr. Quick died in 1954.

Four years ago she was married in Des Moines to Ernest F. Keck. She had lived in Des Moines the last seven years and was a member of the First Methodist church there.

Surviving are her husband; and a daughter, Mrs. Curtis Howell of Des Moines. Her son, Glen Quick died in 1931.

She also leaves five step-children; 13 grandchildren; and seven brothers and sisters, Lon Lyon of Winterset, Mrs. Clyde Hope of Leon, Mrs. Alfred McCleeary of Carlisle, Mrs. Pearl Bradley of Hollywood, Calif., Mrs. Doug Walford of Osceola and Frank and Lloyd Lyon of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Dec. 19 from Dunn's Funeral home in Des Moines, with burial in the Early Chapel cemetery here.
