Page 1Death of Mrs. A. H. Nelson
Funeral services for Mrs. Ashford Harvey Nelson, a former resident of this county were held Tuesday afternoon at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, conducted by the Reverend P. L. Brown of Clearfield, assisted by the Reverend W. C. Porter. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery. Short services were held earlier in the day at Clearfield.
Mrs. Nelson was the daughter of Harrison and Rosanna Jackson. She was born July 7, 1855 at North Henderson, Illinois, and passed away at her home at Clearfield, August 29, 1931 at the age of 76 years.
January 17, 1875, she was married to Ashford Harvey Nelson and they were the parents of ten children. They moved to Stuart in 1876, coming to the Pitzer neighborhood in 1883, and then moving to Clearfield in 1919.
The children that survive Mrs. Nelson are: Orville and William of Clearfield; Mabel Eyerly of Denver; Grover of Russell, South Dakota; Floyd of Lohrville; Lois Bond and Earl Nelson of Winterset.

Amanda Caroline Jackson, a daughter of Harrison and Roxena Jackson was born July 7, 1855, at North Henderson, Illinois, and died at her home in Clearfield, the afternoon of August 29, 1931, at the age of 76 years, one month and 22 days.
She grew to young womanhood in North Henderson, and on January 17, 1875, she was married to Ashford Harvey Nelson, who preceded her in death, January 3, 1917.
Ten children were born to this union, two dying in infancy and Bertha, the wife of Frank Bruce of Wall, South Dakota, died April 24, 1913. Those living are Orville Nelson of Clearfield, William of Clearfield, South Dakota, Mabel Eyerly of Denver, Grover of Roswell, South Dakota, Floyd of Lohrville, Lois Bond and Earl Nelson both of Winterset, all being present at the funeral services.
In the year 1876 she came to Iowa, residing near Stuart, and later at Redfield. In 1883 they moved near Pitzer, where she made her home until 1919 when she went to Clearfield. In 1917 she united with the United Presbyterian church of Pitzer. When she moved to Clearfield she changed her membership to the Christian church, where she remained a consistent member. She was a loving wife and mother, and a patient sufferer. She leaves besides her seven children, nineteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. P. L. Browns in the Clearfield Church of Christ and in the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at Winterset, assisted by the Rev. W. C. Porter, of the local United Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
