MORTUARY - Julius Shultz

Julius Shultz was born at Buffalo, New York, January 1, 1859 and died September 8, 1931, after a brief acute illness although for several months he had not been in good health.

In the fall of 1911 Mr. Shultz was married to Miss Mary Hobson, with whom he lived up to the time of her death which occurred May 12, 1917. In August of the same year he married Elizabeth Jane Richey, who is left behind to mourn his passing. In addition to the widow there also survives a daughter, Anna, by a former marriage, who now resides in Montana and one sister, Mrs. Martha York of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and a step son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wagner of Des Moines.

Mr. Shultz came to this part of the country when he was about 45 years of age, and has made his home in Winterset since that time.

Mr. Shultz was a gardener by occupation and for many years raised vegetables and plants. He was well known and made many friends through fair dealing and honesty with all those with whom he did business. These many friends and acquaintances will miss him greatly. Mr. Shultz was a member of the German Lutheran church.

Funeral services were conducted from the Ramsey-Richards funeral home at 2:30 o’clock Thursday afternoon in charge of Rev. John T. Hall, pastor of the Baptist church.
