Thomas Jones Died Sunday

Thomas W. Jones died Sunday, January 13, at Winterset Care Center South at the age of 78. Before his retirement, Mr. Jones was a banker in several Iowa communities including Iowa Falls and Coon Rapids.

Born on January 19, 1901, in Cherokee, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Jones. He was married on November 20, 1933 in Clarion, and his wife Maybert survives him.

Mr. Jones had lived in Iowa most of his life. Madison County had been his home since his retirement in 1962 with the exception of two years in Mesa, Ariz. He returned to Winterset in 1978.

Mr. Jones attended the First United Presbyterian Church and was a 50-year Mason, having been a member of Speculative Lodge 307 in Cherokee since 1922. Also surviving are five grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Milligan, his parents, a brother and three sisters.

Mr. Jones bequeathed his body to the College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and no services are planned.
