KENNETH JONES TAKES OWN LIFE

Young Farmer Found Dead of Gunshot at Home in Lincoln Township

Kenneth R. Jones of Lincoln township was found dead Saturday morning, May 6, in his farm home southwest of Winterset. His body was found by a neighbor, W. D. Rankin. Deputy Sheriff Ed Powell, Dr. Paul Eggleston, county medical examiner were called to the scene.

They reported that the young man had taken his own life by shooting.

Mr. Jones was 37 years of age at his death. He was a son of Arthur C. and Zella F. Nelson Jones, and was born in this county June 3, 1929. His life was spent farming in this county.

He served in the U. S. army in 1951.

Surviving are his father, Arthur C. Jones of Winterset; four brothers, Robert L. Jones of Orient, Clinton Jones of Puerto Rico, Irvin Jones of Abilene, Tex., and Neil Jones, who is stationed at Ft. Carson, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and a sister Mrs. Ruby Luetjen of Cole Camp, Mo.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. William Bowles, pastor of the First Christian church here. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery, with military ritual by Green-Rogers post of the American Legion.
